Boufarik, Algeria - June 1943
When we arrived by ship and disembarked at Algiers, Algeria, we were sent to the town of Boufarik to billet in a walled school yard on the outskirts of the town. This is a photo of Russell, fresh from England in full uniform. That night we slept on the cold marble floors of the class rooms and by the next day we had lost that "spit and polished" look.
