"RCAF Airfield Perimeter, Tunisia."

The airfield consisted of an expanse of sand, with young olive trees--- it was a farmer's field. Grading produced a usable runway with service roads. To protect equipment and personnel, tents were dispersed around the airport, using the small olive trees for cover whenever possible. Planes and equipment also were dispersed so as to present scattered targets to potential attack by enemy planes.
